Foods for a healthy immune system

Foods for a healthy immune system

A healthy immune system is possible with certain foods you eat. When you're trying to prevent colds, flu, and infection, your first step should be to make sure you're taking these powerful immune system boosters, if not every day, from time to time:

1— Acerola
A rich source of vitamins and antioxidants, this tasty fruit has a lot to offer. Acerola contains a lot of vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and enhances overall health. Acerola vitamin C helps keep your blood vessels and bones healthy as well.

Vitamin A is also an essential component of acerola cherries. A healthy immune system, eyes, and bones depend on getting enough vitamin A.

We only use sustainably sourced acerolas in our products, because not only are they rich in vitamin C and A, they also have magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, and several B vitamins, which are all essential to maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

2— Black Elderberry
Since ancient times, black elderberry has been used for treating a wide variety of ailments and injuries, including infections, burns, and inflammation. In addition, multiple decades of research on this superfood suggest that it has immunoprotective properties, particularly against cold and flu symptoms.

It contains vitamins A, B, C, and bioflavonoids, promoting overall health by boosting the body's defenses and providing an antioxidant effect. In our daily formula for women, we use organically grown black elderberries to provide immunity-building, inflammation-fighting, and stress-relieving ingredients with the highest bioavailability and the longest-lasting results.

3— Guarana
For centuries, Amazonian tribes have used guarana as a medicinal herb. It contains a wide range of stimulants, including caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine. Guarana is also packed with antioxidants, like tannins, saponins, and catechins. In fact, it has similar antioxidant properties to green tea. They help neutralize potentially harmful free radicals, which can cause damage to cells.

The antioxidant properties of guarana may help combat cancer cell growth, reduce heart disease risk, and prevent skin aging, studies suggest.

Guarana contains the world's highest natural caffeine content at 458%. This caffeine works as a stimulant and releases gradually into the body, lasting 4-6 hours. Contrary to coffee, it does not result in nervousness, will give more energy, and increase concentration.

For our Essential Day To Day Men, we sustainably source our guarana from certified organic farms in Brazil for energy production, peak athletic performance, learning and memory, healthy skin, and of course, immunity strength.

4— Mushroom
Mushrooms are a great natural source of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is key to supporting a healthy immune system and an easy vitamin to miss out on, especially now that fall has arrived.

Our Essential Day to Day formula for women and men provides the best natural source of vitamin D to boost immunity all year, especially during the winter season (October - April).

Mushrooms also include B vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber—another nutrient that supports immune health. However, it is their vitamin D content that is unique among plants.

5— Cranberry
Cranberries are rich in vitamins C, A, as well as powerful antioxidants. These all help to enhance immunity, preventing cardiovascular disease and inflammation. The antioxidants in cranberries also boost oral health, as they prevent bacterial infections.

Also high in fiber, they lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and prevent a variety of diseases and infections. Overall, one of the primary benefits of cranberries is their use in clearing the body of bacteria, fighting infections, and promoting wound healing. Native Americans highly valued cranberries both for their nutritional value and for their healing properties.

For her nightly dose of wellbeing, Reload Time to Time Women, we source our cranberry from certified organic farms in the United States.

6— Green Tea
Indeed, the green tea craze is just now catching on around the globe, but in China, where we sustainably source our green tea, it has existed for thousands of years.

Green tea is not just good for warding off illnesses, though. It helps with weight loss, skincare, increasing life expectancy, and boosting brain functions.

Green tea, as mentioned previously, contains antioxidants (polyphenol compounds called flavonols and catechins) that have immune-boosting effects. In our Reload Time to Time Women and Reload Time to Time Men, we have green tea to promote better immunity, brain function, and cellular rejuvenation during sleep.

7— Bilberry
For our nightly formula for her, we lovingly handpick our bilberries in the forests of Lapland for their anti-inflammatory properties and superpowers. Bilberry, therefore, is a true native superfood.

Aside from anthocyanin, a powerful antioxidant pigment, and vitamins C and E, bilberries also contain essential minerals such as iron and calcium.

8— Red Grape
The health benefits of red grapes go beyond their luscious taste. They are a good source of vitamins A, C, B6, and folate, as well as essential minerals such as calcium and iron. In addition, they are packed with phytonutrients that are believed to promote longevity.

The red grapes in our nighttime formula for men were sustainably cultivated in Tuscany to help men strengthen their immunity.
